Are You Marketable?
Identifying Transferable Skills:

Description: This workshop will help you to begin your personal skills analysis and learn to express transferability of your skills to a prospective employer. You will also learn the top characteristics desired by employers, refocus your resume and build more confidence during an interview.

Developing Workplace Skills:
Description: This workshop addresses job retention issues and the non-technical skills which employers expect from their employees.

• Demonstrating Appropriate Social Skills through Communication/Work Ethics
• Flexibility On The Job

 

   

What Happens After The Interview?
Description: This workshop addresses the reality of rejection, techniques to deal with rejection and overcoming negative thinking. Discussions will also focus on methods to improve your interviewing through the most commonly asked questions.

Salary Expectations/Negotiation
Most job seekers are anxious and uncomfortable when the time comes to discuss salary. But today’s employer expects some type of negotiation, and we must be ready. This workshop will offer basic information about negotiating salaries and a better understanding of salary expectations.

• Are Salaries Really Negotiable?
• What Do I Need To Know In Order To Negotiate A Salary?
• How Can I Find The Market Rate Salary Range?
• How Can I Handle Questions About Salary During An Interview?
• Mistakes To Avoid

 

   

Resume Writing Workshop:
Need help writing a resume? Then this workshop is for you. You will learn how to create a resume that best suits your work and education history.

 

   

 

Dress for Success Workshop:
You only get one chance to make a great first impression. In this workshop you will learn what attire to wear to an interview and how to dress on a day to day basis within different careers.

 

     

 

Interview Workshop:
In this workshop you will learn some important information about what to do before, during and after the interview. Please bring two copies of your resume.

 

     

 

Computer Literacy Workshop:
An introductory computer course for basic computer skills. You will learn the basic fundamentals of PC components, Windows Desktop and how to use a mouse.

 

     

 

Job Application Workshop:
This workshop provides a practical approach to completing job applications. You will be able to answer key questions correctly and learn the importance of a neat and legible application.

 

     

 

Mouse Tutorial:
Practice basic computer skills including: moving the mouse, copying, cutting and pasting text and how to use radio buttons.

 

     

 

GED/Adult Literacy Classes:
Upgrade your Math and English skills and/or prepare for your GED.

 

     

 

Resume Critique:
Bring your resume for a professional evaluation and get tips for the best way to highlight your work experience, skills and abilities.

 

     

 

Math and Reading Review:
Math review is a workshop designed to help you brush up on basic computation and problem solving skills – from whole numbers to algebra. Strengthening your skills will give you the ability and confidence to pass competency, GED, and pre-employment tests. Reading review is a workshop offered to improve reading comprehension. Participants are trained in skills such as summarizing, recalling details, and making inferences. Test taking techniques are also taught during this workshop.

 

     
 

PA CareerLink North
Fresh Start Orientation is designed for PA CareerLink members with a criminal background who face challenges in obtaining employment.
