Training Funds & Tax Incentives

For Your New Employees
Businesses may be eligible for direct funding to train new employees on the job or tuition payment if training vendors prepare new employees in a classroom setting. Training programs are customized to the employer's needs and our staff works closely to provide new employees with skills the employer requires. They include:

  • On the Job Training: Provides training services to new employees for a period of time upon employment.

  • Industry Partnership Consortium Training: A multi-employer collaborative that brings together management and labor to improve the competitiveness of a cluster of companies or organizations producing similar products or services and sharing similar supply chains, critical human resource needs, infrastructure requirements, business services, and/or retention/recruitment challenges.

  • Customized Job Training: Training tailored specifically to meet the needs of employers for a specified job category. Download factsheet for more information.

  • Work Readiness Program: Candidates receive training on exactly what it takes to be successful in the workplace. When job candidates complete enough coursework hours, they become eligible to take the national job readiness certification exam. Upon passing this exam, the candidates are deemed Work Certified™. For Your Current Employees
PWDC has access to Pennsylvania funding sources for upgrading the skills of current workers.  In an ever-changing technological and regulatory climate, these training funds help to offset expenses often incurred by employers who require an updated workforce in order to maintain or grow the bottom line.

  • Tax Incentives: PWDC has current eligibility information for companies interested in accessing Federal and State tax incentives associated with employees in designated categories. When a company enrolls in the Tax Credit Program, the company’s information is processed to receive the tax credits for which the company is eligible through the:

    Federal Empowerment Zone Credit
    Renewal Community Employment Credit and/or
