PWDC's Business Services Team is charged with delivering all the necessary workforce resources to support employers and their personnel, regardless of the size of the business.  We work diligently to meet employers' needs with solutions that work.  Again—at no cost to the employer.  The following are just some of the resources our team is able to provide:

Financial Assistance for Businesses

Training Funds
For New Employees:Businesses may be eligible for direct funding to train employees on the job or tuition payment if training vendors prepare new employees in a classroom setting.  Training programs are customized to the employer's needs and our staff works closely to provide new employees with skills the employer requires.

For Current Employees:Pennsylvania CareerLink has access to Pennsylvania funding sources for upgrading the skills of current workers.  In an ever changing technological and regulatory climate, these training funds help to offset expenses often incurred by employers who require an updated workforce in order to maintain or grow the bottom line.

Tax Incentives The Pennsylvania CareerLink Business Services team has current eligibility information for companies interested in accessing Federal and State tax incentives associated with employees in designated categories.

Economic Development Pennsylvania CareerLink's Business Services Team is committed, in partnership with the region's Economic Development agencies, to helping businesses locate to or expand in the Philadelphia area.  To that end, they know who to contact for assistance with financing, site location, licensing and regulatory issues, tax incentives, public sector business services, and any other economic development needs.

 

Employee Retention & Development Services

Transportation  The Pennsylvania CareerLink Business Services team works closely with several organizations that help make the commute to work more convenient; including SEPTA Transit Check, carpooling systems and bicycle maps.

Immigration Regulations-Information & Assistance Pennsylvania CareerLink Business Services Staff can help guide businesses through the regulations and procedures surrounding immigration laws as they pertain to employment, or help with a specific issue pertaining to one or more employees.  All information related to immigration and status of citizenship is kept strictly confidential by PA CareerLink personnel and its partners who specialize in all immigration issues.

Services for your Exiting Workforce When companies are required to downsize, employers can play an integral role in ensuring that employees who are slated for layoff receive immediate assistance and information to keep them in the work place.  By allowing a Pennsylvania CareerLink representative to meet with your exiting personnel in advance, workers can take advantage of the placement and training services offered by the Pennsylvania CareerLink system.

 

Workforce Development Services

Staff Development/Supervisory Training The Pennsylvania CareerLink Business Services Team establishes partnerships with local and national professional development associations to deliver training for supervisors at no cost to the employer.  An excellent two day program is tailored to each employer’s assessment of supervisory needs.  The training is geared to improving employee retention through skilled management practices.

Literacy, Language and Computer Skills in the Workplace Through partnerships with local organizations, employees can receive workforce literacy services such as English as a Second Language (ESL), basic reading, math, or computer skills to enhance the skill level and efficiency of the company’s workforce.

Labor Market Information Pennsylvania CareerLink Business Services Staff directs employers to the information they need about current labor statistics and understand how labor market trends access affect their strategic planning and bottom line.
